Good deal comes undone
By Serene Luo
A GROUP of PlayStation 3 (PS3) players has been left high and dry after a scam artist left the lot not only out of pocket and but also their consoles offline.
Some of the more than 20 fuming gamers have made a police report against the anonymous man, entrusted to buy games online on their behalf for the popular video game console.
It all started back in February, when a user nicknamed Prinsipe offered, on game forums such as GameAxis and Play.sg, to purchase games for others from the PlayStation Network store in the United States.

Hi all, I just tried logging into both my banned accounts and was able to log in to both. Apparently, Sony USA has accepted my payment and re-activated the accounts.
Here are the steps I took:
I first emailed scea_rnt_psn_account_support@custhelp.com and told them about my problem. After a few email exchanges, they give me a service request number and told me to call Sony's Customer Service at 866-286-5123 using that service request number as reference.
I then called Sony's Customer Service and Bryan, who answered my call, wanted me to verify that I'm the owner by answering a couple of their questions. I couldn't answer all of them but in the end, he relented and told me to make payment to them either by money order or cheque.
He stated that I would have to include the Name (used during the creation of the PSN account), Sign In ID (e-mail address used for logging in), Online ID, the new service request number given, and reason for the payment for each of the accounts in a memo.
The address to mail to was as follows (with his name in ATTN):
SCEA
ATTN: BRYAN M.
PO BOX 5888
SAN MATEO
California
94402-0888
I sent the mail using normal air mail last Thursday, 21st May 2009, and I happen to try and login today, 31st May 2009, and it worked. I re-downloaded the games and they are working fine.
